তৈরি পোশাকশিল্পের শ্রমিক-কর্মচারীদের মজুরি বাড়ানোর জন্য সরকার ন্যূনতম মজুরি বোর্ড করেছে। বোর্ডকে আগামী ছয় মাসের মধ্যে শ্রমিকদের মজুরি নির্ধারণ করে সুপারিশ দিতে বলা হয়েছে।
রাজধানীর সচিবালয়ে আজ রোববার দুপুরে আয়োজিত এক সংবাদ সম্মেলনে শ্রম ও কর্মসংস্থান প্রতিমন্ত্রী মো. মুজিবুল হক পোশাকশিল্পের জন্য ন্যূনতম মজুরি বোর্ডের সদস্যদের নাম ঘোষণা করেন। শ্রম মন্ত্রণালয়ের পাঠানো এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বিষয়টি জানানো হয়।
প্রতিমন্ত্রী পোশাক খাতের নিম্নতম মজুরি বোর্ডের জন্য মালিকদের পক্ষ থেকে তৈরি পোশাকশিল্পের মালিকদের সংগঠন বিজিএমইএর সভাপতি মো. সিদ্দিকুর রহমান এবং শ্রমিকদের প্রতিনিধি হিসেবে জাতীয় শ্রমিক লীগের নারীবিষয়ক সম্পাদক বেগম শামসুন্নাহার ভূঁইয়ার নাম ঘোষণা করেন।
মন্ত্রণালয় জানায়, চার সদস্যবিশিষ্ট স্থায়ী নিম্নতম মজুরি বোর্ডের চেয়ারম্যান হচ্ছেন সিনিয়র জেলা জজ সৈয়দ আমিনুল ইসলাম। অন্য সদস্যরা হলেন মালিকপক্ষের প্রতিনিধি বাংলাদেশ এমপ্লয়ার্স ফেডারেশনের শ্রম উপদেষ্টা কাজী সাইফুদ্দীন আহমদ, শ্রমিকপক্ষের প্রতিনিধি বাংলাদেশ শ্রমিক লীগের কার্যকরী সভাপতি ফজলুল হক মন্টু। নিরপেক্ষ প্রতিনিধি হিসেবে আছেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক কামাল উদ্দিন।
শ্রম প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন, ন্যূনতম মজুরি বোর্ডকে আগামী ছয় মাসের মধ্যে শ্রমিকদের মজুরি নির্ধারণ করে সুপারিশ দিতে বলা হয়েছে। এই কমিটির সুপারিশের আলোকে সরকার আগামী ডিসেম্বরের মধ্যে নিম্নতম মজুরি ঘোষণা করবে।
সংবাদ সম্মেলনে ভারপ্রাপ্ত শ্রমসচিব আফরোজা খান, বিজিএমইএর সভাপতি মো. সিদ্দিকুর রহমান, ব্যবসায়ীদের শীর্ষ সংগঠন এফবিসিসিআইয়ের সাবেক সভাপতি এ কে আজাদ, বিজিএমইএর সহসভাপতি মো. নাছির উদ্দিন উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

সর্বশেষ ২০১৩ সালের ১ ডিসেম্বরে তৈরি পোশাকশিল্পে নিম্নতম মজুরি ৫ হাজার ৩০০ কার্যকর হয়। এর মধ্যে মূল মজুরি ৩ হাজার টাকা, বাড়ি ভাড়া ১ হাজার ২০০ টাকা এবং চিকিৎসা, যাতায়াত ও খাদ্য ভাতা ১ হাজার ১০০ টাকা। ওই বছরের ডিসেম্বরের আগে পোশাকশ্রমিকদের নিম্নতম মজুরি ছিল ৩ হাজার টাকা। একেকটি মজুরিকাঠামো পাঁচ বছরের জন্য গঠন করা হয়।
